Therapy is expensive because therapist have high cost, such as extensive education, trainings, licensing, and running a practice. Every year I get additional training in couples therapy to be a better couples therapist.
I aim for therapy to take the shortest amount of time possible and to achieve goals that you have. The goal for every therapist is to help a client or couple enough to then be not needed. (Yes my goal is to be fired.)
In a research study from Verywell Mind study "Among respondents who are in couples therapy, 99% say it has had a positive impact on their relationship, and three out of four (76%) say it has a high or very high impact."
Investing in couples therapy is crucial for your partnership. More than 75% of couples report favorable results from consulting with a qualified therapist.
The National Average: A typical divorce in the U.S. costs between $15,000 and $20,000 per spouse when handled through traditional litigation.
Yes, because of the significant demand, I only accommodate 10 couples simultaneously. I respond to all emails and phone calls within 48 hours. This can vary on occasion if I am out of the office due to vacation, illness or other circumstances.
Sessions are 50-55 minutes long or 75-80 min long depending on the rate. We will usually meet weekly at the same time on the same day. We will meet weekly at first and then decide together on what an appropriate schedule will be.
Individuals: I use Headway platform to take Aetna, United and Blue cross. Please note, you should contact your insurance company before our initial session to have a complete understanding of your coverage, reimbursement amounts, deductibles, and policies.
Couples: Insurance companies don’t actually cover relationships—they cover treatment for an individual with a mental health diagnosis. When insurance is used for couples therapy, one partner has to be identified as the “Client” and given a diagnosis, even when the issue is relational and shared.
My approach is different. I work with both partners as equal clients and focus on patterns, communication, intimacy, and repair—not on labeling one person as the problem. Working outside of insurance also protects your privacy and allows the work to go at the pace and depth couples therapy often requires, without restrictions from an insurance company.
I completely understand that cost matters, and I’m always happy to talk through fees, or other options so you can make an informed decision.
I accept all major credit cards, and HSA cards when applicable. Please be aware that all clients are required to keep a credit card on file and will be charged automatically after each session. I encourage you to review the intake documents for full details on payment and other important practice policies.
I ask that you give me as much notice as possible if you plan to miss a session or need to reschedule. There will be a full charge of the session rate for any appointment that is not canceled or rescheduled 48 hours in advance of the start of the session time.
If you are experiencing a psychiatric/psychological emergency, please dial 911 on your phone or go to the nearest hospital. You can also access the Mental Health Crisis line anywhere in the United States by dialing 988 on your phone they are operated 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Therapy is a distinct journey for each person or couple, and results cannot be assured. Consequently, the duration of therapy varies for each individual. It is advisable to maintain an open dialogue with your therapist regarding your progress in relation to personal objectives and any concerns about the timeline. Participation in therapy is entirely voluntary, and you have the right to discontinue services at any point for any reason.
