Friday is virtual and Saturday is in person
Additional Sessions weekly after intensive are $199

If you, your partner and your therapist all decide: “Yes! A couples intensive is the way to go!” you’ll make plans for the intensive during the consultation. Your therapist will walk you through all details of paperwork and logistics.
Show up - although that sounds obvious, we recognize the vulnerability in it. Come to the intensive with honesty. We want to know exactly where you are. Bring all your thoughts and feelings. Together, we’ll organize it, make sense of it, slow it down and create opportunities for you to connect.
Couples intensive therapy is also called "Marathon Therapy" or "Retreats"
What is it?
Intensive couples therapy is a focused therapeutic intervention that spans over a two or three-day period.
This approach includes:
A comprehensive Assessment of the relationship
Several hours of evidence-based treatment
A concentrated focus on the goals that are most important to both partners
What Are the advantages of Marathon Couples Therapy Compared to Weekly Sessions?
The uninterrupted focus on assessment and treatment allows partners to achieve breakthroughs and make expedited progress on their most pressing concerns.
Intensive couples therapy can offers the equivalent of 3 to 6 months of traditional therapy in just one weekend.
Example Schedule
Before the first session:
Once a intensive session is booked, the process starts immediately with a confidential online questionnaire online questionaries completed by each partner. There is also paper work to sign regarding all policy and procedures and confidentiality. This assessment provides valuable insight into the dynamic of the relationship highlighting strengths, areas of concern, and each partners hopes for counseling.
Day 1 (Assessment & Intervention Phase) Friday
5pm- 6pm Session 1 (Assessment Phase) Gottman Oral History Interview, which covers: current relationship challenges and strengths, the history of the relationship, family of origin influences on strengths and challenges with communication, and current goals for therapy.
6pm-7pm Session 2 (Assessment Phase) Individual Sessions (30 minutes each) The individual time allows for a deeper exploration of family of origin influences and space for each person to freely share their perspectives on the relationship.
7pm-8pm Session 3 (Assessment Phase) A discussion of Gottman Connect Assessment Results, which includes: an overview of the Sound Relationship House and growth areas and strengths in the relationship based on the assessment.
Day 2 (Continue Intervention Phase & Plan for Maintenance/Continued Progress Phase) Saturday This is usually in person.
9am - 11am Joint Session, Move more deeply into the goals of therapy.
11am - 1pm Lunch Break
1pm - 4pm Joint Session
Establish maintenance/continued progress plans, including a schedule for ongoing sessions or check-in sessions.
